The Hendey Group for “Rebound Table” Project
The Hendey Group helps to create a new type of device that a foot bag, or “hacky sack” could bounce off of in order to create a brand new game.
Overview
The project was originally started to allow a foot bag, or hacky sack bounce in order for players to exchange or volley the foot bag to each other from one coming rebound surface.
In this project our team was comprised of:
Mechanical Engineering
Industrial Design
Project Management
Plastics Engineer
Manufacturing Engineer
Capabilities that were showcased during this project included:
Mechanical Design
Industrial Design
Materials
Physics
Manufacturing
The Challenge
- Foot bags, or “hacky-sacks,” do not bounce well or at all.
- The rebound surface needed to be effective enough that the foot bag could bounce to the next player without a lot of additional velocity other than the velocity of falling from a reasonable height.
- Sourcing material for the rebound surface was challenging

The Solution
- Through research and experimentation, we found a list of materials that fit the client’s needs.
- We developed novel designs that became valuable for the customer’s intellectual portfolio.
- We were able to pivot with the client and the direction of the product including adding a second product to the project.
Why This Customer Chose The Hendey Group Team:
- The Hendey Group was able to understand the client’s concepts and quickly develop prototypes that showed promise.
- Our track record of taking a broad set of experiences and employing those experiences into a successful design effort was also a factor.
- The Hendey Group also has an extensive manufacturing background, which was needed for the success of the product.
